Busy, but fun!
As I sit here on a wet Good Friday, thinking about home and family, it's these festival times of the year that I miss them the most. Mind you Easter eggs and cards have been sent.
I have a week off in May for the youngest grandchild’s second birthday, to catch up with people. That leaves Andrew to manage by himself until I return, then he will go back for a week. Of course, I can get a senior rail card now which means a third off most train travel, handy on the journey from Plymouth to Derby. Back in the day, of course, I would be retired by now, that seems a strange concept as I am busier than ever, but I must say things do take longer. Apparently according to radio 4, 70 is the new 50 so 60 must be the new 40!!!
Every cloud as they say …. We only have one car now so I will come back as a foot passenger. We have electric bikes too, so if one of us has to go somewhere then the other has the electric bike. I do enjoy my bike, it's lovely in this area as the roads are so quiet. Just tootling along in the fresh air, you see so much more, and I know that I will be able to ride up most hills. Our bikes are just assisted so you do have to pedal and put effort in. They are great to bring to the campsite, if you have them, with so many nice places in the range of the bikes. You can also hire them at many of the tourist info centres in the area too.
So, back to Easter, there are plenty of nice things to do in the area, from Easter egg hunts, markets on the lake, concerts and of course experiencing the wonderful outdoors.
We like going to the market in Huelgoat on a Thursday morning if we get chance. There is a great vibe. We usually see lots of friends there and have a drink - as well as a chance to buy some great local produce.
One of our favourite stalls sells pies. Dave who runs the stall hales from Lancashire and found this gap in the market. They are brilliant, so tasty, so Thursday night is pie night. I am going to be selling them in the snack shack too. You will be able to order pie and chips. What’s not to like.
At the moment I am cleaning and renovating the snack shack so we can cook in it again this year. I am hoping that it will be ready for May 2nd. The campsite is really busy that weekend as there is an Ultra Trail race that starts in Commana. All of the accommodation is reserved and we only have 7 pitches left to sell. I will need a week off after that!!
The restaurant Au Lac is opening this weekend. We are excited to try the new menu. I am hoping to get a chance to go on Easter Monday.
Anyway I would like to wish all customers new and old and those thinking of becoming customers a happy Easter.
