Stiff back & a broken mower

Three weeks to get ready for this year's opening.

Coming back to open the campsite each year is a bit like childbirth. You always forget how painful it is until you do it again.

Lets face it, no babies would be born if we remembered until it was too late.

We have arrived with 3 weeks to opening at Easter. The weather is a bit too inclement for outside work. The first 3 days were spent catching up with friends getting the house warmed up and the cupboards replenished.

Then the babies arrived to help the campsite clean up. They have loved it: running round, playing in the leaves and picking sticks. Simple pleasures for them. At 18 months they don't need expensive activities.

So we have begun raking and mowing to get the top area of the campsite ready.

Sadly, Mr H ran over a large stone on his mower to catastrophic effect. We will see what happens with that. As usual it needs a spanner we haven't got. Luckily we have friends who have tools for every eventuality.

After all the raking my back is a bit sore so I need to be carefull and pace myself. We certainly aren't getting any younger !!!! Maybe I need to go to pilates at the local village hall run by a friend of ours on a Friday early evening. Maybe next week when the babies have gone back.

One of our plans this year was to make a glamping area and put in more electric hook ups. We had booked the electrician and needed to find a person with a digger to dig 2 trenches for the cable.

Luckily, yesterday I saw a yellow digger in a field near the campsite and went over to ask him if he could do it sometime. In my best French. Anyway he said yes I can do it now. He did a great job so we are ready for the electrician. He also tests all our electrics to make sure that they are safe for the coming season.

So time is ticking. We have lots to do. I can't wait to welcome you all this summer.

Don't forget we open on the 7th April to the end of October.

Cheers Belinda
