A chance to relax
Our holiday was glorious. We drove a total of 3500 km through France, Italy and Switzerland. Taking in The Alps, Versailles, Milan and of course Lake Como. It was the first time that we had been on such a voyage ever.
When we had three young children it would not have been possible or affordable, which is why we used to end up at the Lac du Drennec; a place that the kids loved. They would just play happily at the beach whilst the mums and dads gossiped, read books and relaxed. It used to be keep them happy and the parents get a break too!
But nowadays after a very busy season we can explore and go to places we have never been before. There were spectacular views, scenery and architecture. It just shows how beautiful Europe is with so much variety. Talking to people on route I realised that many French people have a soft spot for the Monts D’Arrée and Finistere which was nice to know. Sometimes you get very used to a place and don’t always appreciate it. Even better I didn’t have to fly anywhere. I feel very fortunate, and we came back rejuvenated.
We still had things to do when we returned. Our trees are very important to us and we had a tree surgeon to help us prune some of the trees on the campsite. He made a really good job and it was interesting finding out about the trees from an expert.
It is our trees that make the campsite. Keeping the peace, providing shade and shelter, and just looking beautiful. I had been worried about them during the drought and heat of last summer, but they are all doing ok.
We also had the septic tank emptied. For those of you who like figures that was 24000 litres!!!! A job best done when the campsite is closed, I think you will agree.
We had a visit from Andrew's brothers and enjoyed walks by the coast, visited pubs and had an Halloween party. It was great to have time to do some of the things that we enjoy but in the summer are too busy. Autumn is a lovely time to do these things.
With all of the immediate work done we came back to the UK for a few months. We have been catching up with family and friends so its been a bit of a whirlwind. Looking after the twins who are both walking now and can run off in different directions. I have been successful in securing a temporary job in health and social care so am looking forward to starting that in the coming weeks in what are challenging circumstances in the UK at the moment.
We now have 2 cats at home courtesy of my daughter: Charles and Camilla. Bobby has been fine with them but he does stalk them a bit trying to round them up. Typical cats they just ignore him.
Digger, the campsite dog, has, for many years, been in charge at Camping le Drennec; looking after all our doggy customers and lying for hours while kids tickle his tummy. He's not very well. He is very old now and has been struggling with his mobility. He collapsed the other day while on a little walk and is now taking strong pain killers as well as his monthly injections. He is still enjoying being around, eating his food and stubbornly trying to do the things he has always enjoyed, I fear that in the coming weeks we will have to make a difficult decision…….
Finally we are getting plenty of bookings for next year coming through. We will be back in France in March to open at Easter. I can't wait to see you all again……..
