Spring is around the corner
January has been long and cold, seeming to go on for ever... Well, it is the depths of winter. But, towards the end, the nights are getting lighter and sometimes I get home from work before dusk. This year I went back to working in health and social care and have had a great time with some amazing young people and staff.
Then February arrived and you can almost smell spring round the corner. There are snow drops, crocuses and daffodils pushing their heads up. February is always a quick month - speeding rapidly towards March when we come back to France. It is always a month of activities and although we are only on the 17th we have been to CentreParks, Butlins and London. It's like we have to squash all these activities in with friends and family as now the ferry is booked to return to France on the 10th March!
This February is a big birthday month for me as I reach the staggering age of 60. How did that ever happen? It’s a week away now. If I make it, I will be the first woman in 3 generations in our family to reach 60. A sobering thought. Fingers crossed I will make it and there will be a celebration. This one is a bit more refined and involves a steam train journey dressed like we are going to Hogwarts. Our family loves Harry Potter so it should be great fun. I can’t wait to see what everyone comes as.
I am looking forward to getting back to France. Of course, there are 3 small things that make this harder year on year. We have had a wonderful time with the grandchildren. This weekend their mum and dad went on a much-needed break away. So, we have been to soft play, Tycross Zoo, horse riding and shopping. I am shattered now, but as we speak their parents will be getting back on the plane in Prague and hopefully will be back with us at midnight. Of course they will come to France, this year in March, August and the end of September when I am hoping to treat them for a trip to Disneyland Paris.
The reservations for the campsite have been coming in steadily all winter. Sundays are the best day for bookings. I can imagine people sat round after a family Sunday lunch talking about and booking their holidays. Well, I can’t wait to meet you all and am hoping the weather is good and we have a great season again.
We are excited about this coming season, looking forward to meeting our campers again and welcoming new ones.
There is so much to do in the area, Yet it’s so peaceful, with empty roads, miles of countryside, stunning beaches and medieval villages, something for everyone. Then there is the gorgeous Lac du Drennec, with a beach and nautical centre next to the campsite and a fabulous restaurant just across the beach. Swimming in the lake is like swimming through velvet it’s so soft. Come and recharge your batteries……..
